Very good light maybe a little too bright for a bedroom.
10 / 05 / 2014
Great lamps ,if they send the correct one!
23 / 04 / 2014
For the price I think I would struggle to reccomend these, they are pretty bright at full power but the dimming of them isn't brilliant. They don't dim all that far and at certain settings seem to occasionally dim/brighten randomly as if they are stuck between two settings and it can't make its mind up.
08 / 02 / 2014
Except for price is just like a good old fashioned bulb but very much cheaper to run
12 / 01 / 2014
Used in living room Supposedly dimmable but dimming qualities are not good as if the dimmer is switched down, the lights flicker and sometimes go off
27 / 12 / 2013
Need more time to assess
17 / 12 / 2013
Instant warm white light dimmable.
11 / 12 / 2013
Nice bright but warm light\nLED's still a bit pricey at the moment.

  • LED Bulbs for Businesses

Recently we’ve noticed an increase in the popularity of high quality LED lighting amongst our business customers. Longer light bulb life spans and a reduction in energy consumption are convincing business owners to make the switch to bulbs such as our GU10 LED.

Compared to a standard incandescent light bulb the initial price of LED bulbs may appear high. However, if we factor in the savings that will be made over the lifetime of the LED’s usage, it’s easy to see why making the switch is worthwhile. Continue reading

How many Halogen bulbs does it take . . .

It is well documented that LED light bulbs have a long life span. But what about their Halogen counterparts? A standard Halogen bulb will only last for around 2000 hours. This is an important thing to remember when your next bulb blows and you are considering making a change to a more energy efficient style of lighting. Continue reading

    Dimmable Bulbs

The purpose of this blog is for information only and is not really intended to promote our products. With this in mind, this blog post has been written to explain the difficulties with dimming LED technology and why it has taken a while for us to stock dimmable GU10 LED bulbs on our website.

LED technology is an excellent source of lighting as it is very bright, stable and uses a very small amount of electricity. However, the problem with dimming LED bulbs stem from the very fact that they consume such a small amount of electricity compared to traditional incandescent light bulbs. Continue reading

    Beware of Cheap Bulbs

As LED lighting becomes more and more popular, more people than ever are enjoying the benefits of low cost LED lighting with reliable and long lasting LED light bulbs. However, some people are finding that the amazing specifications quoted by some companies online, really are too good to be true.

Many people make the mistake when buying products online of not taking the necessary precautions to ensure that the products they are buying, and the companies they are buying from are reputable. This can result in them being left with faulty products, no one to contact if something is wrong with their products, or products far below the quality that was stated online.

Important things to consider when making an online purchase Continue reading

    Light bulb voltages

While there are many different light bulb fittings and bases, perhaps the most important difference is the voltage they operate at. You’ll find information on the voltage of each of the LEDs on Simply LED’s website.

    Mains voltage bulbs

The mains electricity supply in the UK and Europe is 230V AC (Alternating Current). This powers the majority of lights in the home, and in commercial and public places. Continue reading

    Buying and using LED bulbs

LED bulbs are the newest lighting technology, developed in recent years to provide white light for general lighting applications. Being a new technology, LED bulbs are still relatively expensive compared to the old incandescent bulbs. However, as LED bulbs use much less electricity and last much longer, you will save money. Now you can replace many of your standard bulbs with LED bulbs such as B22, MR16 and GU10 ranges.

Things to consider when deciding which light bulbs to buy: Continue reading

Sounding the death knell of the incandescent light bulb

Technological progress since the Industrial Revolution has seen a series of advances which 'kill off' an older generation of product or activity. On the high seas, steel ships replaced wooden ones, steam replaced sail, and oil replaced coal. In the home, flat screen TVs killed off CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) televisions, and broadband killed off dial-up. Continue reading

How to choose your LED bulb

Like many products on the market, there are good LED bulbs and not so good ones. So as well as choosing the right bulb, you also need to choose a good bulb! Before you place your order, you need to do a bit of research.

There are LED bulbs for a range of lighting uses which include: GU10 LED for spotlights, B22 LED (a standard ‘twist and lock’ bulb) and strip light LEDs for ambient lighting.

To start with, you must have the fitting, voltage, light output and physical size information to ensure you get the right bulb. This can be a daunting task as there are so many variations.  For example: Continue reading

Why putting LEDs and Incandescent bulbs on the same circuit is not recommended

LEDs are now the light of choice in many households, and with good reason. More cost-effective than incandescents, they’re also kinder to the planet, using far less energy while giving superior brightness. But as long as people still possess traditional light bulbs, there will always be a temptation to combine LEDs and incandescent bulbs on the same circuit. While this is technically possible, it is ill-advised for a number of reasons. Continue reading

    The light ‘bulb’ revolution

Have you ever wondered how the traditional incandescent light bulb got its distinctive shape? The sphere surrounding the filament allows light to be distributed evenly in all directions, while the neck contains an opening for mounting and electrical connection. The design is still going strong after more than a century – quite literally in the case of the world’s oldest light bulb. Continue reading

My Top 5 Reasons To Switch To LED Lighting

Here are my top 5 reasons to switch to LED lighting:

    They Are More Energy Efficient

Traditional incandescent light bulbs are highly inefficient. Only about 10% of the energy used to power the light bulb actually goes to producing light, and the remaining 90% is emitted as heat.  On the other hand, LEDs produce virtually no heat, and so use far less energy to produce the same amount of light. Our 5w NxtGen II GU10 LED bulb is equivalent to a 50w Halogen.
