Help & Info
As the name suggests, pygmy bulbs are commonly found in small, restrictive fittings such as cooker hoods, nightlights and a host of other domestic fittings.
Though this LED pygmy bulb from Crompton Lamps can be used in all of these common settings, it boasts a highly versatile design that suits a range of additional ones too.
Unlike many other pygmy bulbs, it can be used outside in large-scale public fixtures thanks largely to its IP65 rating. It's therefore suitable for illuminated signage and scoreboards etc, which normally consume vast amounts of energy due to the large number of bulbs they employ. However, at only 1.7W this LED bulb uses far less than the traditional 15W versions it replaces and can therefore reduce any associated lighting bills by up to 90%. This can mean the difference between hundreds and thousands of pounds when considering large-scale applications such as these.
It has also been designed with a much wider ambient temperature range than other pygmy bulbs, meaning it will work just as effecively at -20°C as it will at 30°C. So, while it can be used in all of the usual settings you might normally associate with a pygmy bulb, it can also be used in fridge freezers and other appliances that normally require specialist bulbs.
