What do CE and RoHS Mean?

CE (Conformité Européene)
The European Union has a raft of Directives which specify the health, safety and environmental requirements for many products offered for sale in the European market, regardless of origin. To show they meet these standards, products carry the CE label. These Directives form a complex web of legislation. Manufacturers and importers are obliged to show how their products meet the standards.
All SimplyLED’s range of LED light bulbs, such as the B22 LED, the GU10 LED, and the E14 LED, carry the CE mark and comply with all the current EU Directives.
RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive)
The RoHS Directive forms part of the European Union legislation designed to protect people and the environment. The Directive restricts the use of certain hazardous substances (such as lead and mercury) in the manufacture of electrical and electronic products on sale in the EU.
It is closely linked with WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive) – where RoHS applies to manufacturing, WEEE applies to recycling.
Products for sale in the EU must comply with the RoHS standards, and manufacturers must maintain extensive compliance documentation.
As well as conforming to the CE Directive, all bulbs in the SimplyLED range meet the RoHS Directive standards. From strip light LEDs through to the E27 LED wide screw, you can be sure SimplyLED’s bulbs conform to the highest standards in today’s energy-efficient lighting market.
